Due to time constraints and the enormous detail required of the model, the 767 was the combined effort of several 3d artist including myself. Specifically I headed up all wing detailing and texturing. After the base model was created, extra detailing was required as needed. I painted a dirt and grunge map for the close-up areas of the shot where the camera would actually pass over the plating of the 767.
The shot itself
required an animated camera bringing the viewer outside and around the plane and finally into the emergency window into the cabin of the plane itself. This was very complicated requiring projected footage, mulitple camera setups and massive amounts of tracking of the blended footage.
In the end it took about 3 months to get about 6 seconds worth of footage but it turned out nice and the director was very happy.

767 model and Animated Camera
3D 767 with a CG animated camera that blended into the live footage seemlessly.
